Therapies & Techniques

Alongside chiropractic adjustment, our Saco, ME clinic uses a range of hands-on and equipment-based therapies. Dr. Brent Reiche picks the combination that suits your condition and injury — here is what is available.

Also used in the clinic

  • Cold laser therapy. Low wavelengths of light targeted at the body’s tissue, used to aid tissue repair and relieve pain and inflammation caused by injury or aging.
  • Myofascial release. A hands-on treatment for skeletal muscle immobility and pain. Gentle, sustained pressure into myofascial connective tissue restrictions relaxes contracted muscles, improves blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulates the stretch reflex in the muscle.
  • Trigger point therapy. Pressure is applied to a trigger point long enough for the muscle to release and relax, which increases blood flow to that muscle. Used regularly, it can help manage pain and stress from chronic injuries.

How your therapies get chosen

  1. Consultation

You talk through your problem, your health history and what you want to get back to doing with Dr. Brent Reiche.

  2. Examination

A chiropractic examination of reflexes and flexibility, plus standard neurological, orthopedic, postural and physical tests. X-rays if your condition calls for them.

  3. Report of findings

Dr. Reiche explains what he found and recommends a treatment plan, including which therapies he thinks will help and how often you would come in.

  4. Treatment

Your visits may combine adjustments, physical therapy and soft tissue massage. Treatment is interactive — tell us at any time how a technique is feeling.

Common questions

Which of these will I actually get?

Whichever ones fit your case. Our massage and muscular therapy, for example, is tailored to the individual patient’s condition and injury, and Dr. Reiche recommends a plan after your consultation and examination. Nothing is done in our office without your consent.

Can more than one therapy be used in a visit?

Yes. A visit may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy and soft tissue massage, and a spinal decompression session is sometimes combined with electrical stimulation, ultrasound or heat and cold therapy.

Do any of these involve surgery or medication?

No. Everything on this page is non-surgical and drug-free — hands-on techniques, massage, or equipment applied to the outside of the body.

When will I know what my plan is?

At the report of findings, once your history has been reviewed and the examination is done. Dr. Reiche will also tell you if your condition needs care from another provider.
