Phase 1 of 3
Phase 1: Relief Care
The first phase of care has one job — bring your pain down. Depending on how severe the problem is, that can mean daily visits, or two to three visits a week for a time.

The first goal is relief
Most people come to a chiropractor because they are in pain. In this first phase of care, the main goal is to reduce your symptoms. Sometimes that will require daily visits, or two to three visits per week for a time.
What this phase looks like
- The goal is reducing your symptoms, not yet correcting the cause
- Visits are frequent — sometimes daily, often two to three times a week
- Pain usually eases first, while the underlying condition is still being worked on
Pain is a poor indicator of health
Most people assume that if they do not feel any pain, there is nothing wrong with them. Unfortunately, pain and other symptoms frequently only appear after a condition has become advanced.
Consider a cavity in your tooth. Does it hurt when it first develops, or only once it has become serious? The same is true of heart disease. Whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear.
